HEAVY METAL POISONING
At the age of 45, and after reading just enough
about the probable dangers of amalgam fillings to become concerned, I had 13
replaced during a 5 month period. The dentist did not use any special protocol
beyond irrigating his drill with ample amounts of water to keep the drill bit
cool, and lots of suction to evacuate the pieces of tooth/filling that he was
removing. After the fact, I learned this may have exposed me to thousands of
times more mercury than the fillings would have released through normal wear and
tear.
Most of the fillings were replaced with crowns
made of gold and platinum (considered "noble" metals). There are
various arguments about using noble metal crowns which may produce electrical
voltage that can disturb the brain, and composite crowns made of plastic resins
which may leach toxins into the system.
